ISSUES

In addition to my previously outlined platform, as your next United States Senator, I will work toward the following:

Federal Taxes:
Replace the entire income tax system, including the Alternative Minimum Tax with the fair, simple, revenue neutral, FairTax on all new goods and services sold at retail. The IRS will be eliminated. By repealing the income tax code and enacting the FairTax rabbis and preachers of the Word of God will once again be able to speak out not only on moral issues, but will also be able to speak out on behalf of those candidates who support those issues.

Fighting the War on Terror
Recognizing that the United States is the predominant force for democracy in the world, we must maintain our vigilance and strengthen our national defense. We must work diligently to bolster homeland security and border security. To do so we must implement a tax system that grows the economy. The repeal of corporate income tax and implementation of the FairTax would eliminate complicated depreciation schedules, AMT's, and credit and deductions to confuse investors. Further, gone would be the complicated compliance costs causing corporations to take a whole new look at accounting. With the FairTax in place there will be unprecedented growth in the economy assuring that our military and internal defense needs will be second to none.

Social Security
Seniors deserve the right to know that Social Security will be there without reductions in future benefits either because of costs or work ethic. By instituting the FairTax seniors, like everyone else, will receive a monthly Family Consumption Allowance, monthly rebate of the FairTax paid on the necessities of life up to the poverty level. If seniors choose to work they will be free of the regressive payroll tax, the federal income tax and the compliance costs associated with each. Further, seniors like everyone else who has investment income benefits, pension benefits, IRAs and 401(k) plans will not have to pay income taxes on them upon withdrawal under the FairTax.

Preserving and Protecting Social Security and Medicare
Realizing that Social Security and Medicare will go broke within a few years under the income tax system, the FairTax will be a much more stable source of income while solving the long term problem of solvency of Social Security and Medicare.

Strengthening Economic Security for Families
Our economy must be restored to become the strongest in the world and must remain the most innovative. Recognizing that wealth is only created by individuals, government cannot presume to believe that the people's money belongs to it. The idea of "returning" that wealth to individuals in the form of "INCOME TAX CUTS" is the antithesis of Republicanism. We must return all of America's wealth to the people. By replacing the income tax with the FairTax our Gross Domestic Product would increase, causing real investment to increase, which will strengthen the American family.

Providing Quality Education for America's Children
Education is the best means that people have to invest in themselves and improve their earning potential. Yet, the present income tax system penalizes the American people who invest in education, virtually doubling its cost. Only the FairTax would remove this impediment to upward mobility of our children.

Affordable Housing for All Americans
The home mortgage deduction only has value because of an income tax lisbility. By replacing the income tax with the FairTax there will be no tax liability making the mortgage deduction irrelevant. Home buyers will be able to save for a down payment without having to do so against an avalanche of taxes on those savings.

Foreign Trade and Job Policies
We must eliminate the foreign trade deficit and reestablish America as a creditor nation. All trade agreements that abridge the U. S. law shall be considered under the Treaty provisions of the U. S. Constitution requring a two thirds vote for approval by the Senate. By repealing all income taxes on corporations and instituting the FairTax, the price of exports will be lowered. With the FairTax applied to foreign goods at the final point of sale in the United States, the playing field for our own domestic products will be leveled.
